Packaging Stories: One of Those

I like the concept: perfumes based on 8 elements from the Periodic Table – hydrogen, helium, lithium, carbon, oxygen, sulphur, mercury and curium. And then comes the original packaging, which is a tangible example of the “Less is more” rule.

Iconic Italian Design: Atollo Table Lamp

Geometric, timeless, the Atollo table lamp is high up on my wish list.

Easy to see why. Its opal murano glass shade seems to be suspended above the cylindrical base. And the base lights up too, to create a soft, intimate light, perfect for that Danish hygge feel.

Minimalist Magazine Hangers

If you like printed paper in all its forms and sizes and are looking for a way to display it rather than just stack it in neat rows on the floor or on shelves, these magazine hangers may be perfect for you.

Frivolous On Desk Wants

I will admit I want these pieces only for their pretty factor as there’s hardly any major function one can attach to them. But you know, everyone likes to hold in their palm a solid, well designed object from time to time. So there’s that.

The first place on my wants list is held by actual paperweights or imagined.

DIY-Worthy Wire Mesh Pendants

Don’t you think these wire mesh pendants would make for a nice DIY? They would look really nice in any combination: in stainless steel, brass or copper wire, in a fine or loose pattern.

Simple Details

Here is a great example of how function and form can be combined to add a little bit of detail in an otherwise minimally furnished space.

Simply stack up your favorite books and place some beautiful blooms in a transparent vase. Or add monochrome pillows with different textures, colors and forms, as these two in mustard and blue.

Familiar Objects with a Vintage Feel

Don’t you just love it when looking through photos of interiors you notice some objects that feel familiar, that remind you of your childhood or of places you once visited?

I spotted this old enamel strainer and memories of summers spent at our grandparents’ farm came rushing back to me. That rack on the kitchen wall holding lids and assorted kitchenware, the buzzing hayfields, our sunkissed skin, innocence, timelessness…

Fabric Storage

I know we all need a place to temporary store little things, a blanket or other trinkets. We might as well make that storage look fantastic so that we can use it day after day and not feel like it is a sore spot in our homes.

If that storage is foldable, so much the better.

Look at this sea grass basket. It blends in perfectly no matter how and where you use it, in your own bedroom or in the guest room.

Small Objects with a Concrete Feel

I love these small objects in concrete. Not just because of how they look, but also because of how I imagine they would feel when held. Pretty heavy and cool, a little rough, with a delicate pattern of small air pockets.

Konstantin Kofta: Artisanal Accessories

Ever thought of your backpack as a leathery exoskeleton or a second skin? This is the feel I get when looking at Konstantin Kofta’s artisanal accessories.

The true-to-life anatomical details in the Ukrainian designer’s creations turn the wearer into a stand-in for a distinctly Kafkaesque metamorphosis.
